Our Story
The organization was born out of a genuine passion for exploring the unknown, during one unforgettable summer in the United States. It was then that the idea emerged to establish an organization that would be a reliable companion for young people who want to participate in cultural exchange programs, summer language camps, or pursue educational opportunities abroad.
Together with his university colleagues, Lazar came to the realization that other organizations did not provide young people with sufficient support, while also charging high fees and adding numerous hidden costs. J1Connect was founded precisely in response to this need for transparency and quality support—essential for the personal and professional development of young people who will shape our society in the future.

As a young person whose life was transformed by the Work and Travel program, Lazar decided to establish the NGO J1Connect. The organization is dedicated to helping young people from Montenegro experience an unforgettable summer adventure as safely as possible and under the best possible conditions, regardless of which cultural exchange program they choose to participate in.

Lazar Kunjić
Program manager
After participating in the WAT program twice himself and spending a semester in Poland through the Erasmus exchange program, he realized that young people need a reliable companion throughout their journey of cultural exchange and education abroad. The idea of founding J1Connect was born during one unforgettable summer in the United States, driven by his desire to provide young people with the support he himself did not have

Majda Trubljanin
WAT Consultant
Majda is a Master’s student at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, specializing in Computer Engineering, at the University of Montenegro. She applied for the Work and Travel program with a mix of uncertainty and fear, but decided to seize the opportunity while she still could — and she has no regrets :). Today, she says it was much more than just a summer job; it was an experience she will remember for the rest of her life.
After returning from the United States, she joined our team with a desire to help others experience an unforgettable summer adventure, but with more support and less stress.
As a WAT Consultant, Majda is here for every student who has a dilemma, a question, or pre-interview nerves — because she has been through the entire process herself. We are confident that her enthusiasm, experience, and positive energy will make her a beloved member of our team.
